Nunavik Nickel Agreement

The basis for Canadian Royalties Inc. (“CRI”) collaboration with the Inuit people is the Nunavik Nickel Agreement (“NNA”), an impact benefit agreement between CRI, the landholding companies from Salluit and Kangiqsujuaq, the municipality of Puvirnituq and the Makivik Corporation. That agreement lays out in writing the foundations for CRI’s commitment to working fairly with our Inuit partners.

CRI is committed to providing contract opportunities for Inuit businesses and to increased prosperity to Nunavik Inuit Communities. Since the beginning of the project, by respecting and promoting the NNA, CRI has already provided substantial and tangible economic benefits to many Inuit enterprises. In addition, since the mine began production, annual money transfers of multi million dollars have been made by CRI in accordance with the NNA and will continue to do so over the life of the mine.

CRI is committed to creating employment for Inuit people. Canadian Royalties has established special training programs in a range of occupations and has created dedicated Inuit positions focused on promoting Inuit employment and training. CRI’s employment Objective: To provide hiring to as many as possible qualified Inuit for positions required over the operating life of the mine.

Canadian Royalties established a government approved apprenticeship trade program, by working in partnership with the Schoolboard Kativik Ilisarniliriniq (KI), with the Kativik Regional Government (KRG), as well as with provincial employment & training organizations.
